Abstract

The folder was developed to promote the use of website www.lebteen.com among young teenagers between 10 and 17 years old. Reliable information and clear advice about puberty and adolescence are provided for boys and girls in the website, i.e. biological, psychological, social and cognitive aspects. An open space is also provided to explore and learn about all aspects of physical development and give proper information so that communication to young teenagers about these issues is less complicated. Prevention and awareness are the overall aims of this intervention. Key issues addressed in the site cover the following: Sexual Health, Puberty (Physical Changes, Emotional Changes, Acne & Hair, Erection, and Menstruation).

Abstract

This report compiles achievements and attempts made in the past years in integrating population education in the text books. The study attempts to (1) review exiting material and text books, (2) describe information addressed in curricular and extra-curricular activities, (3) assess capacity building efforts conducted while emphasizing on the training to teachers and educators, (4) measure awareness and sensitization activities carried out in the educational sector, and (5) highlight policies made regarding population issues, gender and HIV/AIDS. Public administration is tackled as well as educational entities and civil society organizations to end up by setting recommendations.

Abstract

The study assessed the needs and views of elementary and secondary level teachers regarding integration of reproductive health, sexual education and gender issues in text books. Using qualitative and quantitative methodologies to assess these topics, the study (1) evaluated the knowledge, stands and practices of school teachers, (2) estimated the degree of sensitivity of sexual education, (3) analyzed the background of teachers in relation to the material taught, (4) defined patterns and behaviors of teachers with youth, and (5) gathered information about social and cultural constraints affecting integration of reproductive/sexual education in textbooks.

Abstract
The TV spot “Hisham & Nabil” was developed according to the ABC approach (Abstinence, Be faithful and use Condoms) in order to address adolescent reproductive and sexual health issues. The audience targeted consists of adolescents between 15 and 18 of age. The TV spot consists of a conversation between two adolescents discussing reproductive and sexual health issues where the information is projected in a very simple and culturally sensitive manner. This awareness tool is used for training as well as for advocacy purposes with the aim of empowering adolescents to address and talk about their Reproductive and Sexual Health problems as well as take responsible choices.

Abstract

The theatrical play “Hiwar” (Dialogue) was tailored to enhance an open dialogue regarding responsible sexual behavior between female and male teenagers on one side, and parents and young people on the other. The main topics highlighted in the play are (1) taboo societal issues hindering reproductive and sexual health, (2) young people’s queries and concerns about pregnancy and delivery, (3) sexual education, (4) social and gender discrimination, (5) puberty and the role of parents, (6) sources of knowledge and information, (7) relationships and marriage, and (8) love and responsible behavior. The play was developed within a participatory approach and is used as a mean to discuss reproductive and sexual health issues within outreach and awareness raising activities.

Abstract

The training manual was developed to be used in peer education training workshops for developing capacities of young peer educators on Reproductive and Sexual Health issues in the Arab Region. The training manual is an Arabic adaptation of the Y-PEER Training manual developed in Eastern Europe and is composed of four parts: (1) Peer Education: from Theory to Practice, (2) Training to Trainers Principles, (3) Sample activities about peer to peer education in different contexts, and (4) Sample exercises, games and activities about peer education in different contexts.

Abstract

The training kit is designed for outreach and social workers who target young people through awareness raising activities. The kit aims at raising awareness and providing information about sexual and reproductive health to youth – as well as parents - through audio-visual material, several guides and a cartoon book. The material aims at (1) raising awareness on ARSH among young people towards appropriate attitudes as well as responsible behaviors, (2) guiding parents on the best way to communicate information to their children about puberty and adolescence, and (3) mobilizing the community to embark a one day campaign targeting youth and adolescent Reproductive & Sexual Health .

Abstract

The review study was conducted to assess the integration of reproductive health component into the Primary Health Care System (PHC) and extent of utilization of these services in view of Reproductive Health commodities (i.e. medical equipment and supplies, as well as drugs and contraceptives). The study (1) describes equipment utilization patterns, (2) sets determinants of effective equipment utilization, (3) examines the relationship between equipment and patient workload, (4) observes the relationship between equipment and scope of services, (5) identifies unmet needs, (6) identifies performance indicators pertaining to equipment utilization in future work, and (7) explores potential impact of equipment on center’s performance.

Abstract

The study was conducted to assess the impact of the Reproductive Health programme on the beneficiaries, and especially with regards to client’s satisfaction in relation with (1) the provider, (2) the health center, (3) the physical examination, (4) the clinic and (5) the reproductive health services. Several assessment tools were used among which a questionnaire, and direct observation that were conducted in 16 centers located in 4 regions in Lebanon (North, Bekaa, South and Beirut).
