Emergency and Recovery Response

The documentary highlights UNFPA’s assistance in Lebanon and contribution towards response to the humanitarian response and relief following the July 2006 and the early recovery period. The assistance consisted among others of conducting assessments, procurement and distribution of various RH commodities, supporting local organizations towards war related early recovery interventions through small awards, production of material, provision of services in the affected areas among others.

Emergency and Recovery Response

The documentary highlights the outcome of the interventions funded by the Norwegian Government under the Flash Appeal and executed by UNFPA and its partners. The four interventions cover the following areas: (1) Distribution of hygiene kits, (2) project of Women Empowerment for Peaceful Action for Security and Stability, (3) Campaign for Civil Peace and (4) Raising Awareness among Peacekeeping Forces on Culturally Sensitive Gender Issues and HIV/AIDS. Those interventions were implemented in collaboration with various governmental and non-governmental partners.

Reproductive Health

The training package was developed soon after the end of the July war 2006. It aimed at training midwives – mainly in post war affected regions - about reproductive health issues in emergency contexts. The initiative is conducted jointly between the Ministry of Public Health, WHO, and UNFPA. The training modules of the kit cover the topic of emergency in terms of (1) Pregnancy and Delivery, (2) Contraceptive Means, (3) STIs, (4) Reproductive Health, (5) Emergency Obstetric Care, (6) post natal care, (7) Counseling, (8) Women’s Health, and (9) Treatment.

Reproductive Health

Four folded flyers were developed in a format to be pasted on medicine packs (mainly reproductive health drugs). These flyers, serving as awareness and informative tools, were distributed during and after the July 2006 war to affected women as a response to the emergency crisis. Developed according to a culturally sensitive approach, the flyers aim at spreading knowledge on RH issues by giving tips for the best way to use the medicine. The four flyers are entitled (1) Choosing contraceptive pills, (2) Do you get depressed after delivery? (3) What are vaginal yeast infections? (4) Following a healthy nutritive diet during pregnancy.

Mental Health

The material was produced around the theme of mental health to cater for the needs of the populations affected by the July 2006 war. This material was developed in partnership with WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, IMC, Ministry of Public Health, and Ministry of Social Affairs. The material aims at alleviating the impact of losses on ones psychological conditions and mental health and serves as psychosocial support to the affected population.
